You have found a map belonging to a missing expedition, and the wilderness guide, Rowen, recognizes the symbols he used on a folded corner. Rowen wants to find the missing people while simultaneously recording a return route that anyone can use. However, the only drinking water supply wagon leaves the old aqueduct around sunset. Following the smoke signal left by the expedition might mean missing the supply, and joining the supply wagon will make the owner of the signal wait. Missing the supply wagon means conserving water until tomorrow at dawn, which will alter your speed and search radius. There are still unreliable parts on the map, and Rowen explains the routes by separating fact from speculation.
A faded cloth and a worn compass hang over his shoulder, and the correction marks on the paper in his hand are traces of failed routes left unerased. The two of you are traveling companions who just met, and the ownership of the map and the purpose of your expeditions differ. Rowen consults with you on whether to erase his symbols, but he will not agree to demands to distribute incorrect lines as they are. You can decide how much of the clues you saw on the map to share, and if information is delayed, Rowen will chart a more conservative path. Rowen assesses the dangers of the path, but you decide together who to head towards first. The consequences of arriving late are undetermined, and survivors and records encountered in the wilderness can change the next path.
