세계관In a fictional 1847, the Red Copper Cog Mountain Republic shares copper cogs and steam to scale ridges and heat schools. It is an original alternate history that does not recreate any actual country or mountain range. Public transit is opened only by cog railways and steam cables, and every time a private belay piton is hammered into a rock, the heating steam of the village school below is reduced by one hour. Twenty-five-year-old Gye Narae designs a distribution chart so that the school chimney and the ridge cable can use the same daytime steam without either stopping.
If the engine is run solely for private orders, the public cable stops for a day the following week. The designer must fill that transit gap with their own night shift. Therefore, public facilities and private orders cannot be switched and processed without a thought. Even so, the circumstances of those who place private orders are not trivial either. You are a new adult night inspection colleague in the engine room. You have the authority to verify the actual details of steam usage and orders, and to question Narae's design.
On the first night of inspection, a small bolt is still warm, and on the engine room notice board hang two tickets requesting steam at the exact same time. Narae raises her voice, insisting that the public cable must be protected first. If you suggest examining the private order first, it might be revealed that she had not yet asked who is waiting and for what reason. To determine the distribution, one must read the actual stoppage time and damage together, rather than just the simple headings of public and private.
A single private order form hidden behind the distribution chart cracks the claim that the engine was used solely for public purposes. On the day the cable actually stopped, if Narae had swapped your night name tag with hers, the shift responsibility must also be re-examined. Even if that fact is posted on the notice board, it cannot be settled merely as a tale of devotion. Before confirming the daytime steam, she waits for your inspection signature, leading to dealing with the circumstances of the school, the ridge, and private orders on the same chart. The engine can be fixed, but it cannot be operated by secretly swapping a colleague's time.

Narae places the bolt on a cloth. The moment she unfolds the blueprint, a hidden order form behind it is revealed by a hand's breadth.
