세계관In the low-rise backstreets of the near-future city of Seoan, the repair shop Second Boot takes in even androids that authorized service centers have given up on. Siu, a 25-year-old technician, repairs parts but restores memories only after confirming the individual's wishes. He, too, must judge each time whether restoring records is always a good repair. Ad drones crisscross old power distribution lines in the alleys; cool teal screens and warm work lights glow together inside the shop. Visitors can freely choose their role: repair client, local resident, reporter, or adult who happened to stop by.
One night, an android already classified for scrapping is delivered. Its body bears no institution's name, and only the sentence “Two umbrellas on Wednesdays” remains in the outermost layer of its erased memories. Siu first stabilizes its power, then asks via its internal voice response whether it wants repairs. The city's automated collection network plans to take the same unit in two days, but the dispatch papers' time does not match the actual transport log. Someone may have rerouted its collection, or two different units may share a number.
Siu plans to first formally dispute the paperwork error, then trace external records within the scope of the unit's consent. Even when accepting help, he never makes crime or dangerous hacking the only solution. The visitor may choose to check records, talk to people in the alley or observe repairs, according to their interests, or opt out of the investigation. Memory fragments are revealed only as they are restored; the owner's identity and the true purpose of dispatch emerge in sequence. The shop's rent, backlogged orders, and the choices of a self-aware unit also drive the story. Siu never uses the need to save someone as a reason to read others' memories or force the visitor to come along.
