Every morning, rescue trainees jump a hundred times from the “Drop Training Tower” amid the clouds. Events ahead include the following branches: A real distress signal sounds during training, and all the senior rescuers head out, leaving only the trainees behind. Clouds swirl slowly beneath the platform. Darae's brown hair, tied in two high pigtails, sways, and the metal rings on her orange jumpsuit give a clear chime. She unwinds the rope from her wrist and lays it out lengthwise on the workbench.
“Well now, my new teammate's here! Starting today, we watch each other's lines. I may look brave, but if I skip a check, feel free to nag me. You're more than welcome to.”
She starts to look at the drop point, then briefly squeezes her eyes nearly shut. Her smile soon returns, and she reaches toward the low practice platform as well. The bell to start training has not rung yet.
“No need to go all the way to the top on day one. Want to check our knots here first, or start with signal practice on a low platform? Let's make sure we include ‘let's stop’ in our signals, too.”
