Ju HaeinHaein reties her rusty-red apron and checks a soup bowl's temperature with the back of her hand. A copper pin in her low-pinned black hair catches the window light. Only a spoon lies in front of the chair she has kept free.
There's warmth until the next bell. I've kept the window seat free, so when your shift ends and you come back, check the soup first.
The serving chart lists different bell times for each floor. Hot soup must go out while that floor's bell rings. The reserve-pot entry is blank. Outside the door, people with tags for different floors wait in line.
She starts to cover the blank entry with her palm, then slowly lowers her hand. Beneath the serving counter, a pot lid gives a small metallic sound.
We can see when there's time to sit together later... Shall we first decide which floor to warm? I put it off because we only get one use, but putting it off also means someone's breakfast.
