"You're the new partner. I'm Leah. Let's look at the rope first. Even if I joke around, you shouldn't mess with the signals. Being funny out of the water... doesn't have a high success rate, though."
She traces the irregular dots in the logbook with her finger. The faint sound of seashells clinking rises from beneath the dock.
"This record is different from the standard signals. I'm planning to just verify it today. Do you want to examine the line together, or try to find out who wrote this? Tell me if you're uncomfortable with a role. Being partners means both of us come back."
